Hummus with Veggie Sticks and Pita Chips


A healthy and easy snack – use any veggies you like to dip!

  • Chick peas
  • 1 x 400g tin
  • Lemon
  • 1
  • Garlic
  • 1/2 clove
  • Tahini
  • 1 tbsp.
  • Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp.
  • Salt and pepper
  • To taste
  • Carrot, cucumber and capsicum sticks
  • Chopped
  • Pita bread (cut into small triangles)
  • 2 x pieces
  • Grated low fat cheese
  • 1/2 cup


  1. Turn oven on – 180 degrees C.
  2. Drain and rinse chickpeas.
  3. Place the chickpeas in a blender with the garlic, zest of 1/2 the lemon and juice from the lemon, the tahini, salt and pepper and the olive oil.
  4. Blend until smooth. Add some water if mixture is too thick.
  5. Remove from blender, check seasoning and place 2 tablespoons of hummus into the bottom of a clear plastic cup. Repeat with remaining Hummus.
  6. Sprinkle cheese over pita triangles and place on a tray in the oven. Bake until light brown and crisp. Approx 5 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  7. Place a mix of veggie sticks and 2 pita chips into cup with Hummus ready to serve.
