School Food Service Awards

WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR 2022

Manager of the Year – KAYLA FORD – Clarendon Vale Primary School

Congratulations Kayla for winning this years award for School Food Service Manager of the year!

Kayla is dedicated to providing healthy, cooked from scratch lunches to all 130 students at Clarendon Vale Primary School. She is always looking for ways to encourage students to try new nutritious foods and actively incorporates additional vegetables into most recipes.

Kayla involves students in preparation of lunches through using produce from the school garden and having students help with cooking. She has many contacts in the local community that have lead to partnerships and donations to support the lunch program.

Many volunteers work with Kayla and are encouraged to increase their cooking skills both within the school and at home.

“Kayla is an essential backbone of our school and an outstanding pillar in our school community” Serena King, Kitchen Garden Program Project Officer.

Environmentally Friendly School – BEACONSFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL

We are excited to announce Beaconsfield Primary Schools as this years winner of the Environmentally Friendly School Award.

With the start of hot school lunches this year through the School Lunch Project, Beaconsfield has transitioned to reusable bento boxes and cutlery. Food scraps go into compost bins which is then used on the school veggie garden, reducing the need for packaged fresh produce. They have also included a commercial dishwasher that is a great water saver!

Congratulations to Beaconsfield on their efforts to reduce, reuse, recycle and create a more environmentally friendly school environment.
