The people behind Tasmania’s school lunches came together at our Southern and North/North West Food in Schools Term 4 Workshops to share ideas, strengthen connections and learn from one another.

The workshops offered a chance to step away from busy school kitchens, talk through everyday challenges and recognise the work that goes into providing nutritious and delicious meals for students.

Southern Workshop

There was plenty to share, make and taste at our Southern Food in Schools Term 4 Workshop! Springfield Gardens Principal, Nadine Davey, and Kitchen Supervisor, Kate, shared how their school’s program has grown and improved. Then it was time to roll up our sleeves and make flatbreads, a handy way to use up extra yoghurt and flour, with a gluten-free option too. The new lamb and vegetarian tikka masala dishes were a lunchtime hit, with plenty of ideas and conversation shared around the table.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and for the care and hard work you put into school meals every week. Your efforts are truly appreciated!

North North West Workshop

We had a fantastic turnout at our final N/NW Workshop of the year, bringing together Kitchen Supervisors and Canteen Managers for a day of discussion, teamwork and plenty of laughs. The cooking session was busy and a little chaotic, but with everyone lending a hand, the end result was a range of delicious meals enjoyed by all. It was wonderful to see everyone sharing ideas, supporting one another and celebrating another successful year together.

Thank you to all the Kitchen Supervisors, Canteen Managers and school food staff for the incredible work you do every week. Your dedication and hard work make it possible for students to enjoy nutritious and delicious meals, and your efforts are truly appreciated.
